WALLPAPER Removal

Did you know there are 4 different varieties of wallpaper? There's peel and stick wallpaper, some with a removable top layer, strippable wallpaper and classic wallpaper. Since every wallpaper has unique extraction characteristics, it is essential to figure out what type you have.

Strippable wallpaper can come off the wall with ease in full sheets.

Traditional wallpaper is removed in smaller portions and is trickier to remove.

Peel and stick wallpaper will quickly remove from the wall in complete sheets.

Wallpaper with a removable top layer leaves a paper backing on the wall as soon as the first layer easily comes off.

This may feel irritating once you discover it is what you are working with; however, there are techniques to simplify the procedure.

1. Peel and Stick Wallpaper

Peel and stick variations have become preferred in the market merely because they offer easy installation and residue-free removal. Start removing from the top corner by removing the wallpaper down gently and firmly in a parallel fashion. Use terrific care when you steadily pull this wallpaper down delicately and you will be in the position to reinstall it on a different wall.

Avoid over-stretching by being cautious and organized. Important! Don't let the sticky parts of the wallpaper touch each other if you are planning to reuse it. They are hard to split after touching.

2. Strippable Wallpaper

For simple removal, consider attempting our Sure Strip Wallpaper. We engineered it with a pre-pasted backside to make it very easy to remove. Simply use a utility knife or a scraper to peel back a tiny top piece.

After, pull the rest of the sheet straight down. Position your hands near the portion of the wall where it's attached. Keep a spray bottle of water readily available to help initialize the paste. Keep working with the rest of the wallpaper sheets. If you come upon any portions that seem stuck or difficult, use a spray bottle or water cloth or sponge to loosen the paste a lot more. Should there be any residual paste, simply wipe the walls down with some dish detergent mixed into warm water.

3. Traditional Wallpaper

Traditional wallpaper is the type that many people dislike working with due to its track record of difficult removal. However, the best techniques and equipment make all the difference. First, use a scoring instrument to poke micro holes everywhere across the surface of the wallpaper. This helps the water and remover solution absorb through the wallpaper and get to the paste.

Work in three-foot sections, bathing the punctured wallpaper with hot water or wallpaper remover. Get your wallpaper removal either online or from your local home improvement store. DIY your own wallpaper remover remedy with hot water blended with either vinegar or some fabric softener. Alternatively, work with a wallpaper steamer machine that you could rent from your local home improvement center to loosen the paper.

If you're going to be applying the wallpaper on top of drywall directly, make sure to don’t over-saturate the wall. If the drywall is actually wet, permanent damage can happen. Use a scraper or a spackling knife to eradicate the wet wallpaper very meticulously so you don’t damage the wall. Use a treatment of warm water and dish detergent to eliminate any excess residue.

4. Wallpaper with a Peelable Top Layer

This kind of wallpaper oftentimes contains vinyl which can be removed and the backing stays onto the wall. This is considered to be a two-step removal that begins with stripping the top layer off. Warm water sponges or a spray bottle will assist you if there is residue getting stuck. Any backing layers that are stuck on should come away simpler with wallpaper remover. Be very thorough as you scrape the paper from the walls. Work with a detergent and water solution to wipe away any residue with a sponge.

Finishing Up

When you take off the wallpaper, permit 2 to 3 days of drying out time for your wallpaper removal. Some people use a few fans to permit complete air circulation and increased drying time. Your space is going to be ready for recovering in a couple of days. Hang your new wallpaper and enjoy your new vibes. After you move in your furniture, you'll be ready to entertain.
