How We Started

Established in 1851, the Wooster Brush Company is one of the primary paint applicator manufacturers in the U.S. Adam Foss stands out as the founder of the Wooster Brush Company. He established it after moving from Pennsylvania to Ohio. He started by designing handmade bristle paint brushes. Original operations were started in a two-story building located in Wooster, Ohio. The paint brushes were then offered for sale door-to-door all over the state.

The company purchased land on Madison Avenue in 1909 to develop a new factory. The building was 70-feet in width by 200-feet in length. This generated approximately three times the floor space they previously held. The Madison Avenue setting in Wooster, Ohio performs as company hq nowadays.

The business has just elected 9 presidents since Adam started it. In August 2010, William S. Fagert took over as president. He's been alongside the Wooster Brush Company since 1985.

The company has been running for 165 years. It has reached several industry milestones including:

Inventing the angle sash paint brush and the Shasta® design.

The corporation was the first to present the now industry standard of fabricated fabrics for paint roller covers.

To cement or affix the bristles into the paint brush, the “Foss-set” system was invented.

Wooster invented the Exploded-Tip® design to generate soft flags along the endings of the filaments.

These folks were the first company to introduce nylon filaments for latex paints and significantly improved paint delivery.

These ground-breaking business developments have secured The Wooster Brush Company as the highest applicator innovator. The Wooster Brush Company has proudly designed a lot of the industry’s best products. New product creations can be found annually. This company generates more products than the rest of the paint applicator manufacturers dedicated to high-quality items. “Made in America,” the corporation has passed on its heritage over many generations.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT BRUSH?

Materials

Unsurpassed brushes are designed with synthetic filaments, durable blends, China’s finest bristles, quality ferrules and secure, supportive handles. The Wooster Brush Company uses the highest-quality products from across the globe to develop its products. If we are not able to source the resources we need, we generate our own.

Tipping

The filament or tip is among the most essential part of the paint brush. The particular way the filament, surface, or tip is made precisely affects the paint application. Our proprietary tipping methods are protected meticulously, which is standard for every paint brush manufacturer. The end is a major contributor to how powerful a brush brand is.

Taper

Check out the paint brush edgewise. Note if it tapers and comes to a point, you will have more control. Tapered filament brushes allow the paint to flow and enable better coverage. To simplify cutting-in techniques, make an effort to pump the paint on the surface. Level filament brushes or un-tapered filament paint brushes typically cost less; however, they considerably sacrifice capacity, management and coverage.
